The small, cunning, opportunistic scavengers that are prone to ambush through their attempts to take whatever they can and from whoever they can, and selfishly for their own personal gain.
They walk amongst us and attempt to portray themselves as the ones to be followed, respected, trusted, and with our best interests at heart. They may use various forms of deception and camouflage in their attempts to throw us off, to trick us, and to hide from our sights. They attempt to present a higher moral ground, to gaslight us, and manipulate whenever they can, to take away from others. Yet these are the weak people with a poor moral compass and a delusional sense of self and purpose. They are people that lack authenticity, quality, humility, and the courage to be better, for themselves and for others. History provides us too many lessons around these types of individuals, yet we continue to find ourselves exposed to their teeth and claws.
Stoic philosophy promoted to live a life of virtue: of courage, wisdom, temperance, and justice. To just be a good man where honor and valor led the way, where a handshake actually held value and meant something, where we would protect and provide, where the strong would uphold the weak.
The world right now is calling out desperately for good men. Those of traditional and strong values, those who care for other human beings, and that know when it is their moment to lean in and stand up, that they can. Not corporate cowards hidden behind title or wealth, or social sheep that follow the norm aimlessly. Not predators either, but protectors and promotors of others.
It is said that a testament of a great man is how he treats those who can do nothing for him.
